Failed payment reasons

Subscription payments fail for a number of reasons, which we list below, but whatever the actual reason may be, the fix boils down to two things: 1) either the customer needs to update their credit card; 2) or they need to contact their bank to allow the payment to go through.

When a payment fails, you can see why it failed by clicking on More on an individual payment:

In this case, the failed payment reason is “insufficient funds” and the customer will either need to add funds to their bank account or put in a different debit/credit card.

Other failure reasons we see often are:

  • do not honor
  • transaction not allowed
  • lost card
  • expired card

When a payment fails, ChargeKeep immediately initiates a recovery process to recover that failed payment.
